A Decadent Stuffed French Toast Recipe

Weekends are for waffles, breakfast casseroles, and crepes!

  • Fluffy, and absolutely delish this is the perfect weekend brunch.
  • While it tastes amazing the whole thing is ready in less than 30 minutes.
  • Nutella can be swapped for sweetened cream cheese if you’d prefer.

Ingredients and Variations

BREAD: Brioche is the perfect bread for Stuffed French Toast. It is thick and the perfect density to soak up the cinnamon-sugar-based custard. French baguettes will work as long as they are cut at least 1” thick before using.

EGG MIXTURE: Keep everything together with a light and fluffy custard made from eggs, cream, and some brown sugar and cinnamon. You can also add in drop or two of vanilla extract or some orange, rum, or banana extract if you’d like. A little orange or lemon zest gives the French toast a citrusy flavor!

FILLINGS: Nutella gives this recipe its uniquely tasty flavor, but French toast can be stuffed with all kinds of fun and fruity fillings! Try sweeetened cream cheese,  Strawberry Sauce or even pumpkin cheesecake!

How to Make Stuffed French Toast

This recipe can be used as a dessert recipe or a special breakfast, and no one will ever know how easy it really is:

  1. Whisk together the egg mixture.
  2. Cut a slit lengthwise at the top & bottom of each piece of Brioche (image above) and fill with Nutella. Use a piping bag to make this easy.
  3. Dip each side in the egg mix & cook (per the recipe below).
  4. Once cooked, brush with melted butter & dip both sides in cinnamon sugar before serving.

What to Serve with French Toast

Nutella French Toast is delicious with simple warmed maple syrup, or a scoop of vanilla ice cream (as a dessert).

Try it with some whipped cream, or whipped strawberry butter. Add a side of sliced bananas or strawberries! For breakfast serve it with a side of crispy air fryer bacon and some fun berry smoothies. And for the grownups, you can never go wrong with this easy Mimosa recipe.
